Midland's Branch British Polymer Clay Guild 2005
While exhibiting at the New Zealand Miniature Enthusiasts' convention in October 2004, I was fortunate to meet up with my old friend Gaynor Fryer. Gaynor and I met when I spoke at a miniature meeting on a previous trip to England. When she discovered that I was intending a trip to England to visit with my sister and her family, her eyes lit up and she suggested I teach a workshop at her local area branch of the British Polymer clay guild.
Of course I will, what would you like me teach?? "That one around your neck" was her response. I was wearing a "Mother's Garden" Bead and so the emailing too and fro began preparing for a workshop in England. Teaching internationally can be a daunting thing when you're trying to arrange for polymer clay to arrive half way around the world. Quite a task and what a team we turned out to be.
I arrived in England with a suitcase of Premo ready to make my way north to Lichfield and teach the workshop. It was so lovely to meet up with Gaynor and John again and what fabulous hosts they were. All that home baking hmmmmmmmm yum!!!
I awoke to a lovely crisp spring day and was soon all set to move on to the Conservatory at Curborough Hall Farm. What a lovely place to teach a workshop in. Plenty of light and space and tables and as well as all of that, no need to worry about lunches as the hosts there can provide a lovely meal for those who want it. And then, when it was time to take a break, participants could wander the grounds and shop! What a treat!
Gaynor had a wonderful and enthusiastic group of participants in the workshop including Esther who had come from as far away as Scotland to take part. I also got to see folk I had met on previous visits as well as Coby who has been to New Zealand and visited my studio.
